These are too yummy 🙂 They taste almost like a salted caramel candy bar 🙂
Crust:
1 ½ c. flour
½ c. packed light brown sugar
½ c. chilled butter
Topping:
½ c. butter
1 c. packed brown sugar
3 Tbsp honey
3 Tbsp heavy cream
2 Tbsp maple syrup
1 ½ c. chopped pecans
1 c. chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees, unless using a glass pan and then reduce heat to 325 degrees.
Line a 9×13 inch pan with parchment paper and butter parchment paper.
Crust: in a food processor, combine flour and sugar and pulse briefly.
Cut in butter and process until mixture is crumbly.
Pat mixture evenly into bottom of pan.
Bake for 12 minutes.
Topping: Heat butter over low until it melts and bubbles.
Add in brown sugar, honey, cream and maple syrup.
Bring to a boil over medium heat stirring constantly.
Allow to boil for one minute without stirring.
Process 1 1/2 c. pecans in food processor to chop into small pieces.
Pour topping over baked crust.
Sprinkle with pecans.
Bake 12-15 minutes or until caramel is bubbly.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips while warm.
Allow chocolate chips to soften and then smear slightly.
These don’t really cut well while warm. The caramel part oozes around.
However, since there are no calories in warm samples tasted for quality control purposes….feel free to sample while they’re warm 🙂
